In 2022, the Australia was the fourth most popular destination for Indians to study. Approximately 88,000 Indian students flew to Australia for the education. The primary reasons to study in Australia were:

1. Destination Australia Scholarship

With more than 25 participating universities, the Destination Australia Scholarship is one of the most popular scholarships to apply to. Scholars are entitled to AUD 15,000 per year. However, to be eligible, students must accept an offer from a participating university’s regional campus. You can apply for this scholarship here. 

2. Research Training Program Grants

More than 40 universities participate to award this scholarship. This scholarship is meant for students who receive an admit from one of the participating universities for a research masters degree or for a PhD. Students get between AUD 26,682 and AUD 41,682 as a part of this scholarship. Students can apply here.

3.George Swinburne Post-Graduate STEM Scholarship

This is awarded by the  Swinburne University of Technology and is meant for students who have received an offer for a STEM program. Students who get the scholarship are given a 30% discount on their tuition fees. Students who apply to Swinburne University are automatically considered for this scholarship based on their whole profile. You can find more information here

4. La Trobe South Asia Scholarship

This scholarship is meant for students from South Asia who apply to programs in CS, Business or Mathematics at La Trobe University. Students must have a minimum of weighted average mark of 55 to be eligible for this scholarship and are automatically considered for this scholarship on applying to La Trobe. 5. Griffith Remarkable Scholarship

Students who apply to Griffith university are automatically considered for this scholarship. Scholars are awarded 50% discount on their tuition fee. Candidates must have secured at least 60% in their undergraduate education to be eligible for this scholarship. Click here for more information.

6. Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have received an offer from the University of Wollongong. Students are given a 30% discount as a part of the scholarship but should have a minimum weighted Average Mean Score of 75 in their undergraduate degree. There is no specific application link as students are automatically considered for this scholarship on applying to a program at the University of Wollongong. 7. International Excellence Scholarship

Students who receive an offer from the University of Newcastle in the fields of Information Technology or Computer Science are eligible for this scholarship. Students are automatically considered for this scholarship on applying to the university. Students can get more information here.

8. Global Academic Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is meant for students who receive an offer from the University of Adelaide. It is highly competitive – only two students are granted this scholarship from each department. Scholars get a 50% discount on their tuition fee and must have at least a distinction in their undergraduate degree to be eligible for this scholarship. For more information click here.

9. Macquarie Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship

Students must receive an offer from Macquarie University and then apply for this scholarship. The minimum eligibility for this scholarship is to get a minimum Weighted Average Mark of 65 in undergraduate education. Students will get AUD 10,000 discount on their tuition fee. To apply, click here

10. Study Australia Scholarships

This is not one, but a list of multiple scholarships that students can apply to. The Australian Government has compiled a list of scholarships for students here.Most scholarships provide a discount on the tuition fee – and are granted on the student’s academic merit. There are more than 100 scholarships listed on the website.

Most Australian Scholarships are granted directly by universities. In most cases, students need a strong profile to get these scholarships.
