In 2022, the Canada was the most popular destination for Indians to study. More than two lakh Indian students flew to the Canada for the education. The primary reasons to study in the USA were:

1. Ontario Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who have received an admit from one of the participating institutions in Ontario. The amount ranges between Rs 6 – Rs 12 lakhs depending on the duration of the student’s masters program. To apply, click here

2.PEO International Peace Scholarship

Only women are eligible for this scholarship. The maximum amount is around Rs 10 lakhs for one year. Students can extend this for one additional year. For more information, click here.

3.Global Study Awards

This scholarship was launched in 2015 by the British Council – but is available to students who wish to study in Canada. The maximum value of the scholarship is around Rs 8 lakhs. To know more about this scholarship, click here.

4. Inlaks Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation. It awards upto Rs 80 lakhs to students to fund their education abroad. However, this scholarship is mostly for students who wish to study Non-STEM programs. To know more, click here.

5. KC Mahindra Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the Mahindra trust. Scholars are awarded Rs 5 lakhs – Rs 10 lakhs towards their education in Canada. Candidates should have secured at least a first class in their undergraduate degree. You can apply for the scholarship here.

6. The Aga Khan International Scholarship Program

This scholarship funds the entire tuition fee for students. However, 50% of the scholarship is given as a loan i.e. half the scholarship amount must be paid back within five years of graduation. To know more, click here.

7. National Overseas Scholarship Scheme

This scholarship is provided by the government of India. Funds upto Rs 14.6 lakhs are provided to students to fund their education abroad. One condition is that the student must be admitted to a university which ranks in the top 500 as per the QS World University Rankings. Click here to apply.

8. Education Future International Scholarship

This is a merit plus need based scholarship. Not only do students need to prove that they are meritorious, they must also prove they lack the financial means to support their education. The scholarship amount is usually between Rs 2 lakhs – Rs 10 lakhs. For more information, click here.

9. Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarship

This scholarships is actually provided as an interest free loan for students. The scholarship amount given is upto Rs 20 lakhs. This is a merit based scholarship and is generally awarded to students who secure admits to top universities. To know more about the scholarship, click here.

10. Insightful Scholarship

The insightful scholarship is awarded to students in two instalments of Rs 2 lakhs each annually i.e. the annual scholarship amount per awardee is Rs 4 lakhs. Students need to submit an essay and must have a GPA of 3.5 or more on a scale of 4. To apply, click here.

In addition to the scholarships above, students can apply to university specific scholarships too. Several universities automatically consider meritorious students for scholarships when they apply to the university. Other universities require separate applications for scholarships.
