How much foreign exchange do I need to carry abroad?
You need to carry sufficient funds till you can set up your bank account abroad. This usually takes 1-2 weeks after you reach your destination. Accordingly, taking the equivalent of Rs 1.25 lakhs should be more than enough.
What documents do I need to get foreign currency / a forex card?
You will need the front and last page of your passport, your pan card, visa copy, airline ticket and a filled application form.
How much money can I remit to someone abroad?
As per RBI norms, a person can receive upto USD2,50,000 in remittance in a single financial year year (April 1st to March 31st the next year)
How long will it take for me to get my forex card?
If you complete the application at a partner’s office and complete the payment, you can walk out with a card. If you complete the process online, it can take upto 2 business days.
Can I pay in cash?
No. Payment must be done through debit card, credit card, UPI or Net banking.
